Marrakech - Erg Zahar (trekking)

Landing in Marrakech, you will pass, to join us, by the splendid road Marrakech - Ouarzazate, through the High Atlas. Between mountains, palm groves, Kasbahs and traditional ancestral villages, this is the most beautiful road in Morocco! To fully enjoy this route, you can do it in several stages, as proposed in this circuit (D1 to D2). But if your wish is to stay as long as possible in the desert, it is possible to do this route in one go (+/- 7h30). All our tours are adaptable according to your desires!

D1 Marrakech - Agdz

From Marrakech, direction Ouarzazate and the road to the south in the High Atlas Mountains, via the Tizi-n-Tichka pass and the Ounila valley (old caravan route).

Possible visit of the famous film studios "Atlas Studio".

Continuation of the road towards the magnificent Drâa Valley, the largest palm grove in Morocco, and lunch in one of the small villages in the valley.

Night and dinner in Agdz, in the beautiful village of Asslim.

D2 Agdz - M'Hamid El Ghizlane

We take the road along the Oued Drâa, towards M'Hamid El Ghizlane, the last village before the Sahara desert.

Visit of the Kasbah Oulad Othman and lunch in Zagora.

Discovery of the pretty village of Tamegroute, famous for its pottery.

Dinner and overnight in M'Hamid.

D3 M'Hamid - Sidi Naji

Departure for the desert adventure ! We leave M'hamid by camel ride on foot* (carrying of equipment by camels) with Ali and his team of camel drivers and cooks, towards Sidi Naji. The trek adapts to your rhythm.

Installation of the camp.

Typical lunch and dinner prepared by a Moroccan chef.

Night in a tent (Khaima or Quechua) or under the stars.

* It is also possible to leave M'Hamid by 4x4 and / or spend the night in a fixed camp (see J 3 to 5 of the tour 1), or to combine the two formulas.

D4 Sidi Naji - Erg Zahar

Breakfast at your wild bivouac.

Continuation of the camel drive at your own pace to discover the "erg de la chance" for a breathtaking view of the golden colors of erg Zahar.

Lunch in the form of a picnic in the shade of a tamarisk.

In the afternoon according to your desires, a short camel ride and baking bread in the sand with the nomads.

Sunset on the top of the erg (100 m high).

Dinner and night in a wild bivouac.

D5 Erg Zahar - Aït Benhaddou

After breakfast and a short walk, departure from the camp in a 4x4*, passing by the track that runs along the Jbel Madouer via the dry lake of Iriqui, to discover another face of the Sahara desert.

Short break in the very beautiful oasis of Foum Zguid.

Back to civilization and up to the Draa Valley to reach Aït Benhaddou, a fortified village classified as a Unesco World Heritage Site and which has been used as a film set for many movies (Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator, Games of Thrones, Babel, etc.).

D 6 D 7 Aït Benhaddou - Marrakech

J6 : Aït Benhaddou - Marrakech

Return to Marrakech by going up the Dräa and Ounila valleys.

Visit of the Ksar of Telouet and its Kasbah, and lunch in the pretty village of Taddart.

Dinner and overnight night in Marrakech.

J7 : Marrakech

Visit of the medina and night in Marrakech or direction airport.
